TIA Issues Call for Interest on Two New Projects Concerning Performance and Accessibility for Communication Devices

Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation

Arlington, VA (January 15, 2019) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-41.3 Engineering Committee on Performance and Accessibility for Communication Devices has issued a call for interest for the following two documents:

  • TIA-920.130-B-1 titled “Telecommunications – Telephone Terminal Equipment – Transmission Requirements for Digital Telephones with Headsets.”
  • TIA-920.140 titled “Telecommunications – Communications Products – Advanced Audio Processing Requirements for Digital Interface Communications Devices.”

TR-41.3 is revising Document TIA-920.130-B-1 to swap figures 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 based on the heading and caption titles.

Current digital communication devices are missing requirements and test methodology covered in other industry standards for non-linear aspects including but not limited to double-talk, ambient background noise cancelling, speech quality and AGC performance. TIA’s TR-41.3 Engineering Committee is developing guidelines in that area for TIA-920.140.

TIA is actively seeking participation in this project from the user and general interest communities.

Stakeholders may include but are not limited to: users, manufacturers and purchasers of digital telephones and other communications devices.

For more information about TR-41 and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Teesha Jenkins at standards@tiaonline.org. To join the TR-41 engineering committee, submit a TIA Engineering Committee Application today.

A major function of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is the writing and maintenance of voluntary industry standards and specifications. These activities are carried out by the volunteer members of TIA engineering committees. Recent meeting reports, agendas and notices for upcoming meetings, as well as links to some of the most popular standards from each committee are available on TIA’s public engineering committee pages.
