TIA Issues Call for Interest on new Project for Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard For Industrial Premises
Arlington, VA (November 05, 2019) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.9 Engineering Committee on Industrial Telecommunications Infrastructure (1005) has issued a call for interest for document TIA-1005-B initially titled Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard For Industrial Premises.
TR-42.9 is developing guidelines in the area defined by the following scope: “This Standard specifies telecommunications cabling to support industrial premises applications (e.g., voice, data, text, video, industrial and building controls, security, fire alarm, imaging) while allowing for exposure to the wide range of environmental conditions expected in industrial premises (e.g., temperature, humidity, electrical noise, shock, vibration, corrosive gases, dust, liquids). Need to update the standard for the following items: 1) Include Addendum 1 of ANSI/TIA-1005-A 2) Update standard with new requirements for 1G for E2 and E3 environments”
The stakeholders may include but are not limited to TR-42.1, TR-42.3, TR42.7, ISO/IEC/JTC1/SC25/WG3, end-users, installers, designers of industrial cabling systems.
TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.

A major function of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is the writing and maintenance of voluntary industry standards and specifications. These activities are carried out by the volunteer members of TIA engineering committees. On the public engineering committee pages, users will find recent meeting reports, agendas and notices for upcoming meetings, as well as links to some of the most popular standards from each committee.
