TIA Issues Call for Interest on New Project for IEC 61755-1: Fiber Optic Interconnecting Devices and Passive Components – Connector Optical Interfaces for Single-mode Fibers
Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation.
Arlington VA. (January 12, 2023) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.13 Engineering Committee on Passive Optical Devices and Fiber Optic Metrology has issued a call for interest for document TIA-621.1 initially titled ” IEC 61755-1: Fiber optic interconnecting devices and passive components – Connector optical interfaces for single-mode fibers.
Part 1: Optical interfaces for dispersion unshifted fibers – General and guidance”
TR-42.13 is developing guidelines in the area defined by the following scope: “Adoption of IEC 61755-1: Fiber optic interconnecting device and passive components- Connector optical interfaces for single-mode fibers- Part 1_ Optical interfaces for dispersion unshifted fibers- General and guidance as ANSI/TIA-621.1. “
Part 2-1: Connection parameters of dispersion unshifted physically contacting fibers- non-angled”
TR-42.13 is developing guidelines in the area defined by the following scope: “Adoption of IEC 61755-2-1: Fiber optic interconnecting device and passive components- Connector optical interfaces for single-mode fibers- Part 2-1_ Connector parameters of dispersion unshifted physically contacting fibers- Non-angled as ANSI/TIA-622.1. “
Part 2-2: Connection parameters of dispersion unshifted physically contacting fibers- angled”
TR-42.13 is developing guidelines in the area defined by the following scope: “Adoption of IEC 61755-2-2: Fiber optic interconnecting devices and passive components- Connector optical interfaces for single-mode fibers- Part 2-2_ Connection parameters of dispersion unshifted physically contacting fibers- Angled as ANSI/TIA-622.2 “
The stakeholders may include but are not limited to: telecom and data communications, fiber optics users and manufacturers.
TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.
For more information about TR-42 and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Cheryl Thibideau at standards-process@tiaonline.org.
A major function of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is the writing and maintenance of voluntary industry standards and specifications. These activities are carried out by the volunteer members of TIA engineering committees. On the public engineering committee pages, users will find more information as well as links to some of the most popular standards from each committee. TIA is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
