TIA’s TR-14 Committee Issues New Mounting System Classification Standard
Arlington, VA (May 5, 2023) – The Telecommunications Industry Association, which develops standards for the information and communications technology industry, has released a new document, TIA-5053-A, Mounting System Classifications.
TIA-5053-A is a new revision to the TIA-5053 standard updated to be consistent with industry best practices and needs.
Updates to Revision A of TIA-5053 include:
- Clarified scope and objective, specifically with respect to responsibilities of the designer and use for existing mounts
- Cleaner, more consistent layout of application of loading and ratings of mounts
- Allowance for limited unbalanced loading, with greater allowances when directed by the mount provider
TIA-5053-A was formulated under the cognizance of the TIA TR-14 Structural Standards for Steel Antenna Towers & Antenna Supporting Structure.
