TIA Issues Call for Interest on New Project For Test Method For Evaluating Fungus Resistance of Optical Fiber and Cable
Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation
Arlington VA. (January 4, 2024) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.12 Engineering Committee on Optical Fiber and Cables has issued a call for interest for document TIA-455-56-C initially titled ” Test Method For Evaluating Fungus Resistance of Optical Fiber and Cable “.
TR-42.12 is developing guidelines in the area defined by the following scope: This method is intended to evaluate the adequacy of optical fibers and cables to retain their structural integrity and performance level under environmental conditions favorable for the development of fungal growth. These conditions are: high humidity, a warm atmosphere, and the presence of inorganic salts.
The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: Telecom, Optical Fiber Manufacturers, Developers and Users.
TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.
