TIA Welcomes Hillary Clinton’s Technology & Innovation Initiative, Applauds Focus on Jobs and Infrastructure

Arlington VA. (Jun 29, 2016) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today commented on presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s announcement of a Technology & Innovation Initiative.

TIA CEO Scott Belcher issued the following statement:

“Technology represents an enormous part of America’s economic strength and global leadership, and so we welcome Sec. Clinton’s focus on this issue and the details provided in her initiative. We look forward to examining the proposals in more detail, but we appreciate that her plan recognizes the critical role broadband plays in creating jobs and economic opportunity and includes a strong focus on digital infrastructure. Heavy-handed regulation is harming the private sector’s ability to invest in the infrastructure needed to deliver next-generation wireless, the Internet of Things and other life-changing technologies.  We’re hopeful that the next president will work with industry to develop forward-thinking solutions that allow our country to continue leading the world in high tech jobs and innovation.”
