TIA Hires Experienced Tech PR Leader Ashley Simmons as Director of Communications
Arlington, Va. (March 29, 2016) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today announced it has added Ashley Simmons as Director of Communications. Simmons will direct TIA’s strategic communications efforts and manage the organization’s relationships with media and other stakeholders.
“Ashley is an experienced PR strategist who understands the technology communications landscape as well as anyone,” said TIA CEO Scott Belcher. “She’s worked with great organizations and companies and brings a skillset that makes her an exceptional addition to our team. Ashley will play a central role in helping TIA raise the voice of the companies that build and support the network. This effort is increasingly important as the industry and policymakers tackle the development of 5G, spectrum availability, cybersecurity, and other top issues.”
Simmons has significant experience in technology communications and has spent ten years handling communications for top trade associations, at a technology marketing firm, and for political candidates. Most recently, Simmons was the Director of Communications at the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America), where she led the group’s communications efforts to advance awareness of transportation technology solutions. Simmons’ previous leadership roles include working as an Account Director at David All Group, and serving as the Director of Communications at the Information Technology Industry Council.
