TIA Announces Plans for New Leadership

Arlington, VA (November 11, 2016) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today announced plans for new leadership. In conjunction with the association’s fall board meeting, TIA will be presenting a new slate of board leaders with strong industry experience.

As part of these changes, incoming Board Chairman David Heard will assume the role of interim CEO December 1. Heard is a telecommunications industry veteran who has served as TIA’s vice chairman for the past two years. TIA CEO Scott Belcher announced that he will depart at the end of the year, and a national search for a permanent CEO has already begun.

“We thank Scott for his leadership and contributions to the association,” said TIA’s current Board Chairman Mark Walker. “He has helped the organization establish a strong operational foundation and strategic plan from which to grow. In line with this, we will seek a new leader with strong industry knowledge and technology background. Through this transition, our foremost focus will remain on increasing member value and advancing the industry.”

For reference, in 2016, TIA outlined a strategic plan for the coming year to accelerate our members’ business growth through policy, technology, innovation and business connections.
