Telecommunications Industry Association Congratulates FCC Nominees and Looks Forward to Partnering on Critical Issues for ICT Industry

Arlington, VA (May 22, 2023) – The Telecommunications Industry Association—the trusted industry association for the connected world—today released a statement in response to President Biden’s nominations for Brendan Carr, Geoffrey Starks, and Anna Gomez as FCC Commissioners.

TIA CEO David Stehlin released the following statement:

“TIA congratulates Commissioners Brendan Carr and Geoffrey Starks for being re-nominated to serve consecutive terms. Both Commissioner Carr and Commissioner Starks have long championed closing the digital divide for the millions of Americans who lack high-speed connectivity, as well as securing U.S. network infrastructure by working to fund the replacement of untrusted equipment and components that are wrought with national security risks.

We also congratulate Anna Gomez for her nomination to serve as the newest FCC Commissioner. Currently a Senior Advisor for International Information and Communications Policy at the State Department, Anna has a wealth of experience and demonstratable leadership in both the private and public sectors. We look forward to working with her and partnering with the Commission to solve challenges together.

We welcome this group of nominations, which come at a pivotal time and are critical for the ICT industry as we must work together to protect and ensure trust in America’s digital infrastructure.”
