Within international standards developing organizations, individual country interests are represented by Technical Advisory Groups (“TAG”s). The United States has several TAGs, and each TAG is assigned an administrator and a TAG Secretary, usually a U.S.-based standards developer through a national standards body. TIA is the administrator for a number of U.S. Technical Advisory Groups of strategic importance to its Sector Association members.
How to Join a TIA-Administered Technical Advisory Group (TAG)
Interested in participating in standards development through a TIA-administered TAG? Here’s how to get started:
Step 1: Submit Required Forms
To apply, please complete and submit the following:
- USNC Expert Appointment Form (Download PDF)
- Applicant's CV (Curriculum Vitae)
Send both documents to TIA’s membership team at membership@tiaonline.org.
Step 2: Apply for TIA Membership
Complete the TIA Membership Form and submit the application. A yearly participation fee will be invoiced by TIA once the application is approved.
Step 3: TAG Ballot and Approval
Once TIA receives applicant's USNC form, CV, and membership application, we will confirm interest and initiate a 7-day ballot for TAG approval.
Step 4: Payment and Onboarding
If approved:
- TIA will issue an invoice for the TAG participation fee.
- Upon payment, TIA will onboard new TAG member to the TIA portal.
- TIA will notify the USNC (a part of ANSI) of your participation status, and USNC will issue a separate annual fee invoice directly to you and onboard you to the IEC portal.
