Committee Description

Sub Committee TR-8.21 operates under the guidelines of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and under the direct supervision and guidelines of Committee TR-8. As directed and authorized by TR-8, TR-8.21 works with other TIA Engineering Committees, the TIA Private Radio Section (PRS) and liaises with other organizations to foster collaboration and coordination among groups addressing various elements of intrinsic safety. 

The scope of the TR-8.21 Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Intrinsic Safety (IS) Sub-Committee includes, but is not limited to, the development of technical proposals and papers on IS topics of interest to standards development organizations, product testing and certification organizations, relevant professional groups, and relevant government agencies. TR-8.21 may also develop standards on LMR IS requirements, test procedures, and certification process/procedures.
