TIA Issues Call for Interest on New Project for Balanced Single Twisted-pair Telecommunications Cabling and Components Standard
Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation.
Arlington VA (March 5, 2026) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.7 Engineering Committee on Telecommunications Copper Cabling Systems has issued a call for interest for document TIA-568.5-A initially titled ” Balanced Single Twisted-pair Telecommunications Cabling and Components Standard”. TR-42.7 is developing guidelines in the area defined by the following scope: A single twisted-pair cabling and components standard to provide specifications and test procedures for cables, connectors, cords, links and channels using 1-pair connectivity in non-industrial (MICE1) premises telecommunications networks. This revision will incorporate 568.5 Addendum 1 and support for 100BASE-T1L (IEEE 802.3dg).
The stakeholders may include but are not limited to: All users and manufacturers of telecommunications cabling systems.
TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.
