TIA Issues a Recirculation Ballot for FOTP‐3 Procedure to Measure Temperature Cycling Effects on Optical Fiber Units, Optic Cable, and Other Passive Fiber Components
Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation.
Arlington VA. (February 26, 2024) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.12 Engineering Committee on Optical Fibers and Cables has issued a recirculation ballot for document TIA-455-3-C initially titled “FOTP‐3 Procedure to Measure Temperature Cycling Effects on Optical Fiber Units, Optic Cable, and Other Passive Fiber Components”.
TR-42.12 is developing guidelines in the area defined by the following scope: This document is to revise ANSI/TIA‐455‐3B to:
1. Harmonize rate of temperature change with IEC 60794‐1‐22, Method F1 and
2. Harmonize temperature precision with IEC 60794‐1‐22, Method F1.
The stakeholders may include but are not limited to: Users of optical fiber such as optical fiber cable manufacturers and their customers, optical fiber transmission and test equipment manufacturers, specifiers of optical fiber and cable such as telecommunications companies and standards bodies that define transmission protocols.
TIA is actively seeking participation in this process from the user and general interest communities.
