TIA Launches Network Service Assurance Program

Arlington, VA (May 30, 2018) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today announced a new Network Service Assurance Program. As part of TIA’s Technology Solutions community, this multi-year program will bring together carriers, suppliers, consultants, auditing firms, and others, to help establish best practices for the most successful and rapid deployment of new consumer technology services that rely on network performance.

“We see a great deal of new and innovative end user services on the horizon” said Wes Johnston, CEO of TIA. “But none can be successful and meet customer standards if they can’t leverage increased network performance and capacity. TIA is committed to ensuring that we are developing and sharing standards and best practices to facilitate these technologies on a national scale.”

TIA’s Network Service Assurance Program will engage industry working groups focused on identifying standard network performance requirements and Service Level Agreements for new technologies with end user services, including autonomous vehicles, remote medicine, smart factories, and virtual reality, among others. These technologies all depend on a wide range of Information Communications Technology (ICT) systems, including 5G, network virtualization, network slicing, dynamic network orchestration, and self-organizing networks.

TIA is calling for experts from across the industry to join this initiative. TIA believes that standard end-to-end customer use cases will inform specific network performance specifications to help each use case meet customer Quality of Experience requirements.
