TIA Broadens Reach with New Members from Adjacent Industries

Membership diversifies as global connectivity requirements continue to expand

Arlington, VA (October 19, 2021) – The Telecommunications Industry Association—the trusted industry association for the connected world—has welcomed over 15 new members in 2021, including several companies outside of the traditional telecommunications sector.

In the past few months, new members from other industries include: JK Moving Services, Arup, Concert Technologies, Maser Consulting, and Barnes and Thornburg, LLP, who each joined the association to help advance ICT innovation as well as participate in specific TIA initiatives.

“Connectivity is becoming pervasive, and TIA’s reach is extending around the globe while addressing the needs of network providers, smart building operators, device and system suppliers and organizations who offer value added services” said TIA CEO, David Stehlin. “For example our Smart Buildings and Data Center Programs and our new ICT Lifecyle Management Standard, called TR-60, are just a few examples of how we are addressing critical facets of ICT and attracting a more diverse community of members as our industry evolves.”

“JK Moving is excited to work on TIA’s TR-60 Committee developing the first ICT Lifecycle Management Standard which we expect to help our customers better manage their IT infrastructure and data center relocations.” Said, Tucker Gladhill, Director of Technology Services from JK Moving and Storage. “We joined TIA to work closely with other members to advance global industry standards like TR-60, TR-42 and the TIA-942 Data Center Standard and its certification program.”

“As an early member of the TIA Smart Buildings Program and contributor to the Smart Building Assessment Criteria, we took the opportunity to expand our relationship with TIA as a full member to help contribute across a broader set of ICT issues, including new Smart Building and Smart City public policy initiatives for a more sustainable built environment,” said Dan Michaud, Associate Principal and Senior Technology Consultant at Arup.
