TIA Applauds Administration’s Efforts to Streamline Burdensome Regulations and Provide Funding for Rural Broadband
Arlington, Va. (February 12, 2018) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech connectivity networks, today applauded the White House’s release of a proposal to support America’s critical infrastructure needs recognizing the importance to streamline regulations to broadband deployment.
Cinnamon Rogers, TIA’s Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, issued the following statement:
“TIA strongly supports the President’s infrastructure proposal that removes environmental and historic reviews, which are current regulatory barriers to broadband deployment. A robust communications network is an essential component to addressing our nation’s infrastructure challenges and keeping the U.S. at the forefront of 5G development. Providing $50 billion of funding and incentives for rural infrastructure projects is critical to enhance connectivity and accelerate broadband availability, helping to close the digital divide and enabling greater efficiencies in transportation management, e-commerce, healthcare and public safety services.”
