SCWS Americas 2018 is a small cells conference focused on in-building and outdoor connectivity. TIA has organized two sessions on December 5 including a “Breakfast Briefing” on TIA’s Smart Building Assessment led by Harry Smeenk and Limor Schafman and a panel led by Schafman on “How the Built Environment will Enable 5G Deployment.”

Breakfast Briefing (Dec 5, 8:30 am):

Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is developing a holistic methodology for assessing and certifying smart buildings. This session will present information about TIA and its technology programs that support 5G densification, and the core philosophies guiding the smart buildings specification. Get ready to participate! This will be a highly interactive discussion and feedback session.

How the Built Environment Will Enable 5G Deployment (Dec 5, 9:30 am):

Densification of network infrastructure is an understood requirement for the successful deployment of 5G. The built environment of new and existing commercial and residential development within a municipality is integral to the success of 5G. Municipalities are working their way through how to effectively manage the proliferation of connectivity in combination with their Smart City strategies. This panel will reflect on the complexity of next generation networks as mirrored by the complexity of relationships between telecommunications companies, cities, and real estate developers
