Course Details
Our 3-year program gives apprentices a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical aspects of working with fiber optics, including general cable placing, splicing techniques, maintenance and repair, utilization of Fiber Optics and associated equipment, and safety, while providing hands on experience under the supervision of skilled workers.
Our program is approved by the California Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DAS) and the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). The Fiber Optics Tech/Splicer program combines 4,500 hours of training on the job with classroom instruction. Students are required to attend classes for at least 108 hours per year (2 semesters). The classes provide transferable college credit (3 units per class).
