TIA Issues Call for Interest on New Project For FOTP-32 Fiber Optic Circuit Discontinuities
Arlington VA (October 6, 2026) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.13 Engineering Committee on Passive Optical Devices and Fiber Optic Metrology has issued a call for interest for document TIA-455-32-B, initially titled “FOTP-32 Fiber Optic Circuit Discontinuities”.
TR-42.13 is creating this project to revise TIA-455-32-A and re-establish ANSI accreditation. FOTP-32 provides a method of testing a broad variety of passive or active fiber optic components or subsystems for susceptibility to discontinuities during the application of an external stimulus, such as vibration or physical shock.
Stakeholders are invited to contact TIA regarding participation in the development of this and other TIA standards. The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: fiber optic manufacturers, test laboratories, telecom users, telecom installers.
TIA is seeking broad input as per the public review announcement in ANSI’s Standards Action for directly and materially affected parties. In addition, we are actively seeking participation in this process from the user and general interest communities.
