TIA Issues Call for Interest on New Project for Requirements for Field Test Instruments and Measurements for Balanced Single Twisted-Pair Cabling
Arlington VA (April 8, 2026) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.7 Engineering Committee on Telecommunications Copper Cabling Systems has issued a call for interest to reaffirm document TIA-5071, initially titled “Requirements for Field Test Instruments and Measurements for Balanced Single Twisted-Pair Cabling”.
TR-42.7 is reaffirming ANSI/TIA-5071. This Standard specifies the reporting and accuracy performance requirements of field testers for balanced single twisted‐pair cabling measurements specified in ANSI/TIA‐568.5 and ANSI/TIA-568.7. This Standard contains methods to compare the field instrument measurements against laboratory equipment measurements specified in ANSI/TIA‐568. Measurement accuracy based upon the assumptions for key performance parameters is addressed.
Stakeholders are invited to contact TIA regarding participation in the development of this and other TIA standards. The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: Field tester manufacturers; Test equipment manufacturers; Structured cabling products manufacturers; Structured cabling installers.
TIA is actively seeking participation in this process from the user and general interest communities.
