TIA Issues Call for Interest on New Project for Application Channel Attenuation and Supportable Distances
Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation.
Arlington VA (February 3, 2026) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.1 Engineering Committee on Premises Telecommunications Infrastructure has issued a call for interest for document TSB-6000-A initially titled “Application Channel Attenuation and
Supportable Distances”. TR-42.1 is developing guidelines in the area defined by the following scope: This document lists the communication protocol applications that are supported by the various copper and fiber systems specified in the ANSI/TIA-568 series of standards. This includes Ethernet, Fiber Channel, InfiniBand, and Passive Optical Network applications.
The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: IEEE, fiber Channel, ITU, end users, customers, installers, consultants
TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.
