TIA issues New Healthcare Facility Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard
Arlington, VA (June 29, 2023) – The Telecommunications Industry Association, which develops standards for the information and communications technology industry, has released a new document, ANSI/TIA-1179-B, Healthcare Facility Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard.
ANSI/TIA-1179-B This Standard specifies requirements for telecommunications infrastructure for healthcare facilities (e.g. hospitals, clinics). It specifies cabling, cabling topologies, and cabling distances. Additionally, pathways and spaces (e.g. sizing and location), and ancillary requirements are addressed. Telecommunications cabling specified by this standard is intended to support a wide range of healthcare facilities and systems.
TIA-1179-B was formulated under the cognizance of the TIA TR-42 Telecommunications Cabling Systems.
