TIA Issues Call for Interest on New Project For FOTP-28 Measuring Dynamic Strength and Fatigue Parameters of Optical Fibers by Tension

Arlington VA (August 3, 2026) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.12 Engineering Committee on Optical Fibers and Cables has issued a call for interest for document TIA-455-28-D, initially titled “FOTP-28 Measuring Dynamic Strength and Fatigue Parameters of Optical Fibers by Tension”.

TR-42.12 is creating this project to harmonize with corresponding IEC 60793-1-33 and adapting this standard by adding a forward to the document.

Stakeholders are invited to contact TIA regarding participation in the development of this and other TIA standards. The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: Manufacturing and end users of optical fiber.

TIA is seeking broad input as per the public review announcement in ANSI’s Standards Action for directly and materially affected parties. In addition, we are actively seeking participation in this process from the user and general interest communities.
