TIA Issues Call for Interest on New Project For FOTP-234 IEC-60793-1-52 Optical Fibers – Part 1-52: Measurement Methods and Test Procedures – Change of Temperature
Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation
Arlington VA. (January 4, 2024) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.12 Engineering Committee on Optical Fiber and Cables has issued a call for interest for document TIA-455-234-A initially titled “FOTP-234 IEC-60793-1-52 Optical Fibers – Part 1-52: Measurement Methods and Test Procedures – Change of Temperature”. TR-42.12 is developing guidelines in the area defined by the following scope: This is an adoption of the IEC document 60793-1-52 on Measurement Methods and Test Procedures – Change of Temperature This part of IEC 60793 provides a practical method for evaluating fiber performance in a defined environment. The purpose of this standard is to define a test that determines the suitability of optical fibers (types A1a to A1d and B1 to B4) to withstand the environmental condition of changes in temperature which may occur in actual use, storage and/or transport.
The stakeholders may include but are not limited to: Fiber optic and cabled fiber and component manufacturers.
TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.
