“The IoT plays a critical role in the digital transformation of smart buildings and ultimately smart cities,” said TIA Senior Vice President of Technology Programs Harry Smeenk. “TIA looks forward to continued collaboration with the IoT Community, the world’s largest network of CxOs and IoT professionals, to accelerate the development of the smart buildings ecosystem.”

TIA’s dedicated programming track within the IoT Slam Live Conference will feature executives from across the telecommunications industry, including:

  • Brad Klenz, Principal Architect in Advanced Analytics R&D at SAS;
  • Leonard Lee, Managing Director and Founder of neXt Curve;
  • Todd Boucher, Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) and certified by the United States Department of Energy as a Data Center Certified Energy Practitioner (DCEP);
  • Vernon Taylor, Executive Analyst at Ecosystm;
  • Brenda Boehm, Interim Chief Innovation Security Officer, IoT Board Advisor.

The IoT Slam Live event features expert contributions from elite IoT practitioners at leading-edge organizations including IBM, SAS, HPE, T-Systems, Zebra Technologies, Amazon AWS, Persistent, Spirent, among others. The event marks the IoT Community’s 9th international IoT conference, and its third live in-person event in Research Triangle Park. This event provides the global IoT ecosystem with a unique opportunity to learn from expert innovative practitioners about best practices for enterprises designing, securing, developing, and shaping the future of the IoT landscape.

In January 2019, TIA and the IoT Community announced their collaboration to share information, discuss, and explore technologies related to smart buildings, the Internet of Things, and other areas of interest. Pursuant to that goal, they will develop and share training content related to the Internet of Things and the various initiatives. Additionally, the organizations will work to educate industries on the role of the Internet of Things in buildings, collaborate on events, and share relevant research and expertise.
