TIA Applauds U.S.-Japan Digital Trade Agreement

Arlington, VA (September 25, 2019) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today issued the following statement issued the following statement regarding the trade deal announced between the U.S. and Japan in New York today.

David Stehlin, TIA’s Chief Executive Officer, issued the following statement:

“The announcement of an agreement between the U.S. and Japan on digital trade is a significant step forward for both countries. TIA appreciates that the governments have achieved outcomes that ensure meaningful market access for digitally-enabled goods, services and software; facilitate cross-border data flows; and prohibit arbitrary access to computer source code and algorithms. This agreement helps secure American technological leadership for the future and sets high-standard rules of the road for the digital economy.”
