Bipartisan Bill Demonstrates Commitment to Securing 5G Networks, Says TIA

Arlington, VA (May 23, 2019) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today issued the following statement in response to the introduction of bipartisan legislation aimed at solving communications equipment security challenges.

TIA Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Cinnamon Rogers, issued the following statement:

“TIA applauds the introduction of the United States 5G Leadership Act of 2019. The bill offers a thoughtful and bipartisan approach to solving the equipment security challenges faced by smaller and rural carriers. It makes clear to countries around the world that the United States is making a serious commitment to securing 5G networks. By bringing stakeholders together including small carriers and trusted equipment suppliers, it offers a path forward to address equipment security challenges on an ongoing basis.
